Mat Pilates and GAINS Teacher Training

Eclipse Hot Yoga’s 200-hour Pilates teacher training program is grounded in the concepts and methodology of classical mat pilates, with an additional focus on strength training.  This training will prepare you teach classes that incorporate the precision and control fundamental to pilates as well as classes based on compound full-body movements designed to build strength, such as GAINS.  Anatomy, biomechanics and exercise physiology will be covered in depth. We will prepare you to teach safe, challenging and effective classes. 

Program Curriculum

The training will consist of in-person weekend workshops in which you’ll engage in group discussions, subject review, and have ample opportunity to  practice and refine your teaching skills.  In between workshop weekends, there will be learning modules and assessments designed to prepare you for the in-person sessions and cement your learning.

Your Questions, Answered

  • As a trainee you will have access to unlimited classes at Eclipse. This includes the equipment based classes as well yoga. If you are a member, your membership fees will be suspended October 1st through the end of training, which concludes January 31st. 

    Program materials, including books, will be provided in addition to an Eclipse branded t-shirt.

    You will have amply opportunity to practice teach, receive feedback and the opportunity to audition to be an instructor on our team. To find out more about the benefits of becoming an Eclipse Instructor please talk to Patty or Monya. 

  • Upon completing this training you will be prepared to teach and sequence a powerful, effective and safe mat pilates and strength class in alignment with NPCP (formerly known as PMA) standards for mat pilates. The strength training component will be in alignment with NCSF certification standards. Find out more about mat pilates and strength coaching competency standards here and here. 

    The training will include professional development skills specific the fitness industry. 

  • What makes this training so effective is in part due to its small group learning model. Each program participant plays a vital role in creating a successful learning environment.  Prior to registering please make sure that you will be able to commit to attending the posted program dates and that your schedule realistically allows for the completion of required coursework. The program requires taking two gains or pilates classes per week, attending all the workshop weekends and about two hours of self study per week.  

    Weekend workshops schedule will be as follows:

    Friday 6-9p
    Sat 11-5p
    Sunday 11-5p.

  • To secure your seat in the training a non-refundable $500 deposit is required.

    If after making the deposit you decide you need to cancel you must notify us in writing no fewer than 60 days prior to the first day of training.  A $250 administrative fee will be applied.

  • You have a regular pilates or strength practice and the  desire to teach pilates and/or strength based classes. Beyond that, everyone has a different reason for going into any kind of training program.  Maybe you’re looking to be amongst people who are equally as passionate about fitness, movement and health. Perhaps you’ve felt the benefits of pilates and strength training in your own life and want to share that with others. Maybe you have a blast during class and want to  share that  fun while making a little extra class. There are a thousand other reasons for wanting teach fitness. What are yours?
