    Ghosh Yoga

The Ghosh yoga lineage, developed by Bishnu Ghosh in the early part of the 20th century,  is heavily influenced by  the physical culture movement that began flourishing in India at that time.   Ghosh, a bodybuilder and strongman, incorporated strength, calisthenics and modern concepts of yoga into a therapeutic style of practice that emphasizes muscle control followed by a period of muscular release.  The postures are at their core functional movements intended to prevent injury and help correct common dysfunctions.

Classes  consist of breathing exercises and a rigorous set of postures designed to build strength, flexibility alignment, and healing.

    Intermediate Yoga

Medium to moderate intensity. This 75 minute class is for students who want to take their practice to the next level. We will practice breathing exercises, balancing postures, backends, advanced hip openers, and arm balances. Postures are held in stillness with rest in between. You will learn proper muscle engagement and build functional strength that will give you the confidence to expand your yoga practice. This class is for students who practice on a regular basis.

  • People lying on yoga mats in a dimly lit yoga studio during a class, engaging in a relaxation or meditation pose.

    Restorative & Yin

Yin yoga works heavily with the connective tissues of the body. Yin focuses on fascia, tendons, ligaments, joint capsules, bones, and beyond.

This emphasis on the “yin” tissues of the body means that the practice moves slowly and subtly to efficiently target these “deeper” parts of the physical form. And with long holds of every pose, the practice can more effectively target connective tissues.

Also, by working with postures that deliberately create compression in different parts of the body, it is believed that yin yoga helps to stimulate bone density growth as well as stronger and more organized fascia.

    G.A.I.N.S.

Heavier weights, targeted movement, slow reps. G.A.I.N.S.* is a whole-body strengthening program that focusses on compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and more which engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously. In GAINS you will build overall strength and muscle due to its high muscle recruitment and stimulating hormonal responses. Key principles include proper form to prevent injury, progressive overload by gradually increasing weight, and a focus on functional movements that improve stability and coordination.
